Recordings and Upcoming gigs!

On October 1st, 2011, at 10am, I picked up Adam Gallant and his recording gear. We loaded everything into my place (Lyon's House) and began to attack Joel's drum kit with microphones. Then we set up the bass gear and my guitar gear and waited for the boys to arrive. "Down, down, down", "Cry me a river" and "In a heartbeat" were ready to be recorded.

Around noon we began laying down the drum, bass and rhythm electric guitar parts for three songs. We were finished of them by 3pm - right on schedule! That's when Matt jumped in with his White Falcon and ripped off a bunch of guitar parts in a few hours. Dan Currie was next on the list, and he laid down some of the coolest guitar solos ever done. End of day one!

Sunday saw Adam and myself dive into the main vocal parts, spending a couple of hours and getting some good stuff. Matt also recorded his awesome backup harmonies, and then I did, and we're done of day two!

Completing 90% of the planned recordings for the weekend was a great success - we have a couple of little extra things to do during our next three-song recording weekend, but I'm confident that we're practiced enough.

I've also booked us a couple of gigs for the fall, to take the edge off recording costs and to have a little fun/show off. We'll be at Baba's Lounge on Friday, October 14th with Highway Flower and The Alibi Lounge on Saturday, November 12th with an opening act still to be confirmed.

Keep an eye on www.dreamacdonald.com for new samples of the new tracks!

Much love,
Drea & The Wildebeards
